School instead of Exploitative Work

RASTI and KNH partnership in Chakwal started on August 2014 for the creating of awareness of among the mine workers, manager and other stakeholders and for the reduction reduction of the child labour at coal initially in three area of the Tehsil Chakwal Union Council Arra, Dalwal and Dandot. During baseline Survey conducted by RASTI staff 450 working children were identified in these mine hub locations and 305 working children facilitated during the phase 1, (August 2014 till December 2018) of the project and maximum number of the working children has reduced at mines. Even during this phase other additional achievements like a sustainable model of CBO established, vocational and technical skills granted to the girls of the project areas, mass awareness created among the communities on child rights particularly on CRC and developed a strong liaison and coordination among the stakeholders of the area. During this phase awareness has been created among the mine workers, managers and owners on the protection of the children and their universal rights.

Thereafter RASTI planned and implemented a second phase (2019-2021) in three targeted communities of Chakwal Dharyala, Bhal and Muttan Khurd. During this phase 216 working children has been facilitated, CBO has formed and strengthen and all the relevant stakeholders has sensitized and mobilized for the promotion of the child rights particularly of working children.
